This is kinda weird but i used to say you can tell a lot about a person by their love or hate for American Beauty. My ex loved it b/c he honestly believed that selling weed was an honorable occupation. My dad’s ex-wife hated it b/c “the guy was a pedifile” but really she hated it because Carolyn’s character was her. She was an ungrateful lying cheating whore that always thought she was the victim even though her husband was the best man on earth. I personally love this movie because in the very opening scene when Lester is doing the voice over he says “I wasn’t always like this and you know what…its never too late to get it back”. Its kind of reassuring to think that maybe the monotony of life has numbed you but, you actually do have the power to be happy…and its never too late to get it back.
